Kinesiology in Hackney and Islington, London

In 2007, I stepped off the bus in Newington Green with my A–Z in my hand. No Google Maps, no Overground connecting East London to the rest of the city. It felt a world away. There were no flat whites or cardamom buns waiting around the corner.

I was there for my first job with Dazed & Confused magazine. I worked as a fashion model, signed to Models 1, and later as a youth worker. Two very different worlds.

My first years of adulthood were turbulent. I lost myself in London before eventually finding myself washed up on the shores of Cornwall. It's where I learnt to heal and where I've built my Kinesiology practice, helping others improve their health and wellbeing.

Nearly twenty years later, I stepped off the Mildmay line at Dalston Kingsland, walked up Kingsland Road, through Church Street, Stoke Newington and into Clissold Park.

After an hour of people-watching, I found myself back in Newington Green. I bought Emmental from Jumi, grabbed some sourdough from Jolene and then went for pizza at Bar Etna.

I couldn't resist popping into Shine on the Green. Something about the place caught my attention. I wanted to see what was happening inside.

As I walked back to my flat by Canonbury station, memories came flooding back. The streets were familiar, but the neighbourhood had changed. So had I.

I believe that everyone deserves to make a change in their life. My mind and body have been through very difficult times. Through Kinesiology, I found a way to change my own life, and in turn, the opportunity to help others change theirs.

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a holistic approach to wellbeing that uses gentle muscle monitoring as a form of biofeedback. It offers a way to explore how your body responds to stress and helps guide the session.

What can Kinesiology help with?

My answer is "anything."

People come for Kinesiology with all sorts of issues, from stress, tension and pain to emotional challenges, digestive issues, skin conditions, hormone imbalances, chronic fatigue, feeling stuck or simply not feeling like themselves. Every session is different. I use muscle response testing to explore stress responses and help guide the work towards greater balance and wellbeing.

Depending on what comes up in a session, I may draw on acupressure, lymphatic stimulation, energy work, tapping, chiropractic techniques, emotional and trauma release, food sensitivity testing and nutrition therapy.
